03 / The story of this place

What’s it like to stay here?

The first phase opened on February 10, 1986 with 100 rooms; today there are 360 European-themed rooms, including whirlpool and family suites, on 13 riverfront acres by the Holz-Brücke covered bridge. Hotel guests get wristbands for the Bavarian Blast, which the lodge bills as Michigan's biggest indoor waterpark, plus four indoor pools and three whirlpools. The Family Fun Center adds 18-hole indoor mini-golf, mini-bowling and a ropes course, so good luck getting the kids to leave. Across the bridge, the sister Bavarian Inn Restaurant has been serving family-style chicken dinners since 1888.
