Athens High School opened as one of the public high schools serving Troy, a growing Detroit suburb in Oakland County, and has educated generations of local students. Actor Martin Klebba, who went on to play Marty in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series and appeared in Small Soldiers and Zoolander, attended and graduated from Athens in the 1980s before moving into acting and stunt work in Hollywood. The school remains part of the Troy School District today, serving the community much as it did when Klebba was a student, with academics, arts and sports programs typical of a large suburban Detroit high school.
