Algo Especial Supermercado is a Mexican grocery at 2628 Bagley Street in Southwest Detroit, right in the heart of Mexicantown. Its claim to fame is tamales: Deadline Detroit's "Detroit Digest" said in 2022 you won't find a better tamale in the city, sampling chicken and pork versions, and Axios Detroit spotlighted them again in October 2024. It's an everyday neighborhood market, so come for the tamales and take a lap through the aisles while you're there.
