The Detroit story
Will Bynum went undrafted out of Georgia Tech in 2005 and built his game overseas before Detroit signed him after the 2008 NBA Summer League. He spent parts of seven seasons with the Pistons, twice re-signing multi-year deals, and became a crowd favorite for his speed and playmaking off the bench. On April 5, 2009, he scored a franchise-record 26 points in the fourth quarter alone to beat Charlotte, and the same season he became the first Piston since Isiah Thomas in 1985 to record 20 or more assists in a game. Bynum left Detroit in the mid-2010s to continue his career in China, and later moved into coaching.
