The Detroit story
Tony Lucca was born in Pontiac and grew up in Waterford in a large musical family; his mother was one of twelve children of Detroit jazz pianist Jimmy Stevenson. He began singing at three and modeling at nine, and at 12 he was playing in Detroit-area bands with his cousin Cole Garlak. At 14 he went to Detroit to audition for what he thought was the Disney film Newsies; it turned out to be The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and he joined the cast in Orlando alongside future stars such as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. After a brief acting career in Los Angeles he turned to music full time, released a string of independent albums and toured with Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, *NSYNC and Sara Bareilles. In 2012 he finished third on the second season of NBC's The Voice.
