The Detroit story
Tommy Clufetos was born in Detroit to Greek-American parents and began playing drums as a young boy. He grew up in the northern suburbs and attended Rochester Adams High School in Rochester Hills. His first big break was a thoroughly Detroit one: in 1999 he joined Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, the city's 1960s rock-and-soul legends. From 2001 to 2003 he drummed for Michigan's own Ted Nugent, playing on the album Craveman, and in 2004 he joined another Detroit native, Alice Cooper. After several years with Rob Zombie he became Ozzy Osbourne's drummer in 2010, and from 2012 to 2017 he filled the drum chair on Black Sabbath's reunion and farewell tours, including the band's final concerts documented on The End. He later joined the supergroup L.A. Rats.
