The Detroit story
The Red Wings drafted Jurčo in the second round in 2011 after he helped Saint John win the Memorial Cup as Canada's top junior team. He signed with Detroit in 2012 and made his NHL debut in December 2013, but spent much of his time with the Red Wings' AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, appearing in 159 games for Detroit over parts of several seasons and recording 15 goals and 24 assists. After signing a two-year extension in 2015, he continued to split time between Detroit and Grand Rapids before leaving as a free agent in 2019 to sign with the Edmonton Oilers, brought in by former Red Wings general manager Ken Holland.
