The Detroit story
Eldredge grew up on Cape Cod and became one of the most consistent American men's skaters of the 1990s. He trained for much of his career with coach Richard Callaghan, first elsewhere and then at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, and later at the Onyx rink in Rochester Hills, making metro Detroit the base of his competitive life. He won six U.S. titles, in 1990, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2002, and the 1996 World Championship in Edmonton, the high point of a career that included six World medals. He competed at three Olympic Games, 1992, 1998 and 2002, finishing fourth in 1998. At the Detroit Skating Club he trained alongside younger stars such as Tara Lipinski, helping to make the club one of the most successful in American skating in the late 1990s. He was inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2008.
