The Detroit story
Sreeleela was born in Detroit in 2001 into a Telugu family and was raised in Bengaluru, India, so her Detroit connection is her birth and her American citizenship rather than her upbringing. She began as a child performer and trained dancer before making her lead debut in the Kannada film Kiss (2019). She moved into Telugu cinema with Pelli SandaD (2021) and became one of the industry's most in-demand young stars with the action comedy Dhamaka (2022), Bhagavanth Kesari (2023) and Guntur Kaaram (2024), known especially for her dancing; she has won three South Indian International Movie Awards. Unusually for a working film star, she pursued medical studies alongside her career and completed an MBBS degree at the D. Y. Patil School of Medicine in Navi Mumbai in 2026, qualifying as a doctor.
