The Detroit story
Robinson was born in Detroit and graduated from Cass Technical High School before studying at Spelman College in Atlanta. Her television career began at home, at WGPR-TV, the first Black-owned television station in the United States, which launched a string of local and national Black broadcasters. She went on to report and anchor in Milwaukee, Austin and Miami, covering stories from the Clinton impeachment hearings to Hurricane Georges, and in 1999 joined Access Hollywood, where she spent sixteen years as weekend anchor and correspondent. Since 2016 she has hosted the tell-all specials of TLC's 90 Day Fiancé franchise. She has won an Emmy, published a book of advice for girls, Exactly As I Am (2009), and founded the S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls.
