The Detroit story
Sharon Case was born in Detroit on February 9, 1971. When she was three, her family moved to Chatsworth in California's San Fernando Valley, where she grew up devoted to ballet and jazz dance, so her Detroit years belong to early childhood. At 17 she started modeling and spent time working in Japan before turning to acting. She found her place in daytime drama, with early parts on General Hospital and As the World Turns, and in 1994 she stepped into the role that defined her career: Sharon Newman on CBS's The Young and the Restless. Over three decades, through marriages, feuds and reinventions of the character, she has become one of the show's central leading women, and in 1999 she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
