The Detroit story
Jackson arrived in Detroit in a February 2015 three-team trade and made an immediate impact, scoring 17 points with five rebounds and five assists in his debut. He soon became the Pistons' primary ball-handler, signing a five-year, 80-million-dollar contract that summer, and became the first Pistons guard to record multiple triple-doubles in a season since Isiah Thomas. In April 2016 his 39 points and nine assists against Washington clinched Detroit's first playoff berth since 2009, though the Cavaliers swept them in the first round. Injuries slowed him in later seasons, and the Pistons waived him via contract buyout in February 2020. He later won an NBA championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023.
