The Detroit story
Paul Methric was born in Detroit and grew up freestyling at school with his friend Jamie Spaniolo; the two admired the young Proof and went every week to the battles at the Hip Hop Shop on West Seven Mile. In 1992 they formed House of Krazees with Bryan “The R.O.C.” Jones, releasing five albums through the mid-1990s. After that group dissolved, Insane Clown Posse signed Methric and Spaniolo to Psychopathic Records, and as Twiztid (1997) they became the label's most successful act after ICP itself, with Mostasteless (1998), Freek Show (2000), which debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard chart, and W.I.C.K.E.D. (2009), which reached No. 11. Methric also produces and has released solo work as Monoxide. Critics compared Twiztid's angst-driven anthems to those of fellow Detroiter Eminem. After leaving Psychopathic in 2012, the duo set up Majik Ninja Entertainment in 2014, keeping their Juggalo-rooted fan base and their Detroit identity.
