The Detroit story
Meeks signed with Detroit as a free agent in the summer of 2014, but a back injury delayed his debut until mid-December. Once healthy he became a scoring spark off the bench, and on December 30, 2014, he poured in 34 points on nine three-pointers against Orlando, one shy of the Pistons' single-game record set by Joe Dumars. A foot injury the following season, requiring surgery, limited him to a brief return in the 2016 season finale, and Detroit traded him to Orlando that June. His two seasons in Auburn Hills were defined by that flash of shooting brilliance more than by durability.
