The Detroit story
The Lions took Moore, a tall, long-striding receiver from the University of Virginia, in the first round of the 1991 draft, and he became Barry Sanders' main partner in the Silverdome offense of the 1990s. In 1995 he caught 123 passes for 1,686 yards, a single-season NFL receptions record at the time, and on December 4 of that year he had a club-record 14 catches against the Chicago Bears. He made four straight Pro Bowls from 1994 to 1997. By the time injuries slowed him, he had rewritten virtually every Lions receiving record, and his 670 career receptions stood as the franchise mark until Calvin Johnson passed it in 2015. After a final stop with the Giants he returned to the Detroit area, where he worked as a Lions broadcaster and in business. He was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2026.
