The Detroit story
Grant Show was born in Detroit on February 27, 1962, but was raised with his sister in the Milpitas area of California, so his Detroit link is his birthplace. He studied acting in California and London and began his screen career on daytime television in the soap Ryan's Hope. National fame arrived with Aaron Spelling's prime-time drama Melrose Place, where from 1992 to 1997 he played Jake Hanson, the motorcycle-riding loner at the center of the Los Angeles apartment-complex saga, a role he first introduced on Beverly Hills, 90210. Later television work ranged from Swingtown and Devious Maids to The CW's reboot of Dynasty, in which he played oil billionaire Blake Carrington from 2017 to 2022. He has also worked on stage, including on Broadway.
