The Detroit story
Bischoff was born in Detroit in 1955 and attended Dort Elementary School in suburban Roseville, where he grew up a wrestling fan before beginning a broadcasting and promotion career that took him around the country. As executive producer and later senior vice president of World Championship Wrestling, he built the Monday Nitro program into a genuine ratings rival to WWE during the mid-1990s. He later worked as the on-screen general manager of WWE's Raw brand and as an executive producer for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Bischoff also stepped into the ring occasionally, winning the WCW Hardcore Championship and headlining a 1998 pay-per-view alongside Hulk Hogan. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.
