The Detroit story
Eric Dulan, known as DJ Bone, is a Detroit techno DJ and producer who built his reputation behind the decks, playing fast, tightly cut sets often across three turntables. In the late 1990s he held an essential two-year residency at Motor in Hamtramck, which Metro Times credited with turning the club from a swanky lounge into the city's dance-hungry center of techno. In 1998 he founded his own label, Subject Detroit, and in 1999 began releasing productions on Juan Atkins's Metroplex with the 12-inch Riding the Thin Line. Like “Mad” Mike Banks, he has kept an underground, independent stance throughout an international DJ career that has taken him to clubs across Europe and Japan, while continuing to release his own music and that of other Detroit artists. His records and sets connect the hard-edged Detroit techno of the 1990s to the scene that followed, and he remains a regular presence at Detroit's Movement weekend events.
