The Detroit story
Haddon was born in Detroit and first recorded with the choir Deitrick Haddon & Voices of Unity, whose Live the Life won Gospel Music Workshop of America awards. His solo debut Lost & Found (2002) on Tyscot/Verity reached No. 1 on Billboard's gospel chart, and its single "Sinner's Prayer" was played on gospel and mainstream R&B radio. Crossroads (2004) followed, and he performed "God Is Good" on Soul Train, an unusual step for a gospel artist; 7 Days (2006) was produced largely by R&B producers. Revealed (2008) featured Mary Mary and Ruben Studdard, and Church on the Moon (2012) also topped the gospel chart. He began acting in 2010 and later starred in Oxygen's Preachers of L.A. For about two and a half years from 2009 he co-pastored Kingdom Culture Church, founded by his father, on Detroit's west side.
