The Detroit story
Darvin Ham signed with the Pistons as a free agent in 2003 after stints in Washington, Milwaukee and Atlanta. As a reserve forward known for his dunking, he was part of Detroit's rotation during the 2003–04 championship season, winning his only NBA title as a player. Ham later became an assistant coach, most notably helping the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers each win a championship from the bench, and served as the Lakers' head coach before returning to Milwaukee as a top assistant.
