The Detroit story
By the time Dallas traded him to Detroit during the 2000–01 season, Barros was a veteran shooting guard well past his early-1990s All-Star peak with the Seattle SuperSonics and Philadelphia 76ers. He settled into a reserve role with the Pistons, appearing in 89 games over parts of two seasons and averaging 7.5 points, before Detroit waived him in 2002, ending his NBA career. Though his Detroit stint came at the tail end of a long career built mostly elsewhere, it gave the undersized, quick-shooting guard a final chapter on an Eastern Conference roster on the rise.
