The Detroit story
Maisonneuve was born in Warren, a Detroit suburb, and came up through the Carpathia Kickers, a well-known metro Detroit youth soccer club, before starring at De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren. He went on to a professional career spent entirely with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer, but his biggest stages came in a U.S. national team shirt: he was part of the American squad at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 1998 World Cup in France, earning thirteen caps in total. He later moved into college coaching, most recently at Ohio State.
