The Detroit story
Detroit acquired Bogdanović from the Utah Jazz in September 2022, and the sharpshooting Croatian forward quickly became the Pistons' most reliable scorer on a young, rebuilding roster. He scored 24 points in his Pistons debut against the Orlando Magic, and that October he signed a two-year extension worth over $39 million, a vote of confidence during a difficult stretch for the team. Bogdanović led Detroit in scoring for long stretches of the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons, playing his home games at Little Caesars Arena downtown. A foot injury limited him in his second season, and in January 2024 the Pistons traded him to the New York Knicks.
