01 / The Detroit story
The Detroit story
Armstrong was born in Detroit and attended Brother Rice High School in the suburb of Bloomfield Township before starring collegiately at Iowa. He built his career with the Chicago Bulls, where he was part of three NBA championship teams during Michael Jordan's first three-peat in the early 1990s and made an All-Star team of his own in 1994. He later moved into the front office, becoming assistant general manager of the Sacramento Kings, but his basketball roots trace back to a Detroit-area high school gym.
