01 / The Detroit story
The Detroit story
Daye came to Detroit as a first-round pick out of Gonzaga in 2009, prized for his rare combination of height and perimeter shooting touch. He spent his rookie contract years with the Pistons, including returning to the roster after the 2011 lockout, but never fully established himself in a crowded frontcourt rotation. Detroit traded him during the 2012 season, and he went on to a well-traveled career that included a 2014 NBA championship with San Antonio and, later, a successful stint in Italy where he was named a league finals MVP.
