The Detroit story
Lazor was born in Detroit to David and Stacey Lazor and grew up swimming for Groves High School in nearby Beverly Hills, where she became a Michigan state champion. She swam collegiately for Indiana University and Auburn before qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team. At the pandemic-delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics, held in 2021, she won the bronze medal in the 200-meter breaststroke, the signature achievement of a career built on the pools of metro Detroit's high school swim scene.
