Eastern Market is both a market and a neighborhood: historic sheds, growers, restaurants, shops and murals. Saturday is when it's most alive, so this day keeps you here from morning to night. Everything is walkable; the church is just a slightly longer stroll.

Saturday

  1. 07:30

    Eastern Market

    Eastern Market

Get there early: per the Quarter Detroit events calendar, the fall Saturday Market runs 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. with every shed open, full of local produce, flowers and plants, packaged foods and handmade goods. Restaurants, shops and murals fill the streets around the historic sheds, so it's worth a wander even if you're not buying.

A 6-minute walk south to Adelaide Street.

  2. 09:30

    The Wave of Resilience Mural

    Eastern Market

Artist Camouflage's mural was unveiled at 1520 Adelaide Street on June 25, 2026, during Pride Month. It honors Afro-Diaspora communities and HIV/AIDS advocacy, including the decades of work by advocate Odalys Martin. Free, outdoors and all ages.

About a 30-minute walk or 5 minutes by car north on Russell Street.

  3. 10:30

Sweetest Heart of Mary & St. Josaphat

    Eastern Market / Forest Park

Sweetest Heart of Mary stands north of the market and shares a Polish Catholic parish office with St. Josaphat. You can see the inside by arranging a visit ahead (313-831-6659), and the Detroit Historical Society occasionally runs a tour here paired with a fish fry.

About a 25-minute walk or a few minutes by car back south on Russell Street.

  4. 12:00

    Bert's Marketplace

    Eastern Market

Soul food lunch at Bert Dearing's longtime spot: there's a jazz room, a Motown room and its own Warehouse theater, plus outdoor barbecue on market days. Market-day Saturday karaoke has been an Eastern Market fixture for years, so grab the mic if you dare.

A 4-minute walk to Riopelle Street.

  5. 14:00

    Eastern Market Brewing Company

    Eastern Market

This community brewery in the heart of the market is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays; there's pizza with the beer, and the lineup includes live music, team trivia and even a running club.

    One minute, right next door.

  6. 16:00

    Detroit City Distillery

    Eastern Market

Detroit City Distillery's Riopelle Street tasting room builds its cocktail list around the seasons, so this is where you toast the market day with local spirits. Distillery tours happen separately at the Whiskey Factory on Maple Street and need their own booking.

A few steps along Riopelle Street.

  7. 18:30

    Marrow in the Market

    Eastern Market

Dinner in a 1909 brick building: Marrow is a butcher shop and brasserie in one, with two bars and a retail meat counter for taking something home. Check the official site for hours and reservations.

Good to know

  • Saturday is the big market day; during the week businesses keep their own hours, and Sunday and special markets run on their own seasons and dates.
  • Want a guide? Enjoy the D runs its strolling brunch tour and its Murals in the Market walking tour right here.
  • Some nights at Bert's are 21+, and the weekly music lineup can shift, so check current events.
  • Midnight Temple, an Indian gastropub, sits above Detroit City Distillery if you want to stay out after dinner.
