Michael Zaporski’s Future Visions

Michael Zaporski, known as the pianist for the late Detroit saxophonist Sam Sanders, merges American jazz traditions with West African rhythmic dialogue. Supported by the U.S. State Department, he toured West Africa teaching and performing jazz, which led to collaborations with jazz greats like Jackie McLean and Art Blakey. Leading his own group, FutureVisions, he performed at festivals and colleges and released acclaimed recordings blending orchestra, chorus, and jazz quartet. At Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, he showcased this blend of high-energy African rhythms and haunting melodies to a captivated audience.
