Michael Zaporski

Michael Zaporski crafts music that fuses American jazz traditions with West African-inspired rhythms. As the pianist for late Detroit saxophonist Sam Sanders, Zaporski toured internationally and taught jazz in West Africa supported by the U.S. State Department. He has performed with jazz icons like Jackie McLean and Art Blakey. His own group FutureVisions and the Planet D. Nonet have earned critical praise, releasing acclaimed recordings. At the Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, he shared original compositions and jazz standards infused with African rhythms and haunting melodies, delivering a performance full of sophisticated energy.
