Gene Dunlap

Gene Dunlap began drumming at age four, taught by his father, and sharpened his skills at Detroit Mumford High School, where he formed the Earl Klugh Trio with guitarist Earl Klugh. He went solo as a writer and performer, catching Capitol Records' attention. After releasing the album "Groove With You," he taught in Detroit schools before returning to recording with studio albums in 2002 and 2005. His music mixes late-night groove, contemporary jazz, and smooth R&B, keeping his artistic integrity intact. The event was hosted by Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe Farms.
