Gene Dunlap at Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe

Gene Dunlap started drumming at age four, taught by his father. He refined his skills at Detroit’s Mumford High School and formed the Earl Klugh Trio with guitarist Earl Klugh, performing in local clubs. Though their paths later diverged, Dunlap made a name as a writer, composer, and producer with Capitol Records. After a studio return in 2002, he kept mixing late night groove, contemporary jazz, and smooth R&B while staying true to his artistry. The show took place at Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe Farms on December 20, 2024, from 6 to 10:30 p.m.
