Sean Dobbins & The Collegiate Collage

Sean Dobbins started young in the Detroit jazz scene, regularly playing with Blue Note artist Louis Smith. He earned several honors, including the Woody Herman Jazz Award and the Louis Armstrong Scholarship. Now a professor at Indiana University, his style blends hard-driving rhythm with melodic sensibility, influenced by Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, and others. The lineup featured Andrew Bishop on saxophones, Anthony Stanco on trumpet, Matthew Fries on piano, and Robert Hurst on bass. They performed two sets at the Blue LLama Jazz Club in Ann Arbor.
