Ellen Rowe Concert

Ellen Rowe, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation at the University of Michigan and former Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Connecticut, played at Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe Farms on March 1. She has toured widely across the U.S. and internationally, releasing several albums, including 2020's Momentum – Portraits of Women in Motion. Her new quartet, featuring saxophonist Mike Sakash, bassist Dennis Carroll, and drummer Neil Hemphill, made its first Midwest appearance then, with plans to record a new album in June.
