J. Clyde Neal Group and Session

The J. Clyde Neal Group is rooted in the spiritual and communal traditions of Black American music, led by trumpeter Jonathon C. Neal. The group creates musical space through devotional melodies, collective improvisation, and a philosophy of music as a gift of love, where the energy transfers from musicians to the audience. Jonathon C. Neal is a trumpeter, composer, and bandleader based in southeast Michigan, pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Michigan with a focus on Black American Music as a sacred tradition. The event takes place at Detroit's Cliff Bell’s, featuring multiple performance times and offering seating arrangements including dinner performances. Musicians bringing their instruments are admitted without cover charge.
