Kasan Belgrave and Session at Cliff Bell’s

Kasan Belgrave is a rising saxophonist breaking new ground in jazz with a sound shaped by early bebop, fusion, and gospel. His album “Dual Citizen” reflects his musical upbringing in Detroit under the guidance of his father, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. He studied at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, performing with well-known artists like Wynton Marsalis at Jazz @ Lincoln Center.

At Cliff Bell’s, he brought his sextet featuring talented collaborators such as bassist Jonathan Muir-Cotton and pianist Brendon Davis. The show highlighted the blend of tradition and innovation in Detroit’s jazz scene, set in one of the city’s iconic clubs.
