Russ Macklem Detroit Quintet and Jam Session at Cliff Bell’s

Russ Macklem, a Juno-nominated jazz artist, returned with his second album, performing live at Cliff Bell’s in Detroit. This new record was recorded entirely live in one session at a converted church in Michigan, capturing the classic sound of early 1960s jazz with an intimate, focused feel. Leading the Detroit Quintet, Macklem was joined by top local musicians Kasan Belgrave, Jordan Anderson, Noah Jackson, and Louis Jones III. The concert featured original compositions that range from heartfelt ballads to energetic numbers paying tribute to the band members. After the main set, there was a free jam session for participating musicians to keep the music going. Tickets were $25.
