Planet D Nonet at Cliff Bell’s

On September 13 at 7:30 p.m., the Planet D Nonet performed at Cliff Bell’s in Detroit to mark the release of Echoes of Harlem: A Salute to Duke Ellington Vol 2. This show paid tribute to the legendary Duke Ellington, building on the success of their previous album, which topped jazz charts across the country. Doors opened at 5 p.m. for dinner, followed by seating for the 'Dinner & a Show' at 6 p.m. The band’s program included new material from the album, featuring arrangements from movie scores and lesser-known Ellington pieces like “Echoes of Harlem” and “Caravan.” The event blended historical homage with fresh, personal interpretations of Ellington’s work.
