the Alex Harding Quartet

Alex Harding has been active in jazz from a young age, studying with legends like Yusef Lateef and Beans Bowles and gigging with artists such as Donald Byrd and Wynton Marsalis before finishing high school. Born in Detroit in 1967, Harding began on tenor sax, later switching to baritone, and has toured and recorded extensively worldwide. After a stint in New York working with groups like Julius Hemphill’s Saxophone Sextet and the Sun Ra Arkestra, he returned to Detroit, continuing to record and tour. At the Cliff Bell’s performance, he was joined by Zen Zadravec on piano, Djallo Djkate on drums, and Jaribu Shahid on bass. Doors opened at 5 p.m. for dinner, with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets were $25.
