Willi Carlisle's latest album, The Universal Bubba, marks a significant milestone as his first double album and features a rich collection of new songs. Produced for the first time by Tyler Childers, the duo recorded 17 tracks in a makeshift home studio in New Orleans’ Bywater District. The album is notable for its blend of diverse musical styles including funk, Americana, Cajun, old-time music, and experimental elements. Carlisle introduces quirky characters and vivid experiences through his lyrics, while incorporating synthesizers and double electric guitars, expanding the traditional folk sound.
