The Oliver Mayman Quartet

Oliver Mayman hails from Michigan and is currently a student at Temple University in Philadelphia. He's a vibraphonist, pianist, composer, and educator. Starting drums at 9 and piano at 13, he discovered the vibraphone as a teenager because it combines drumming with harmonic possibilities of piano. His influences include Ethan Iverson, Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson, and McCoy Tyner, treating the vibraphone like a piano in various settings from solo acts to big bands. He has performed across Michigan and Pennsylvania, including at Cliff Bell’s and the Detroit Jazz Festival. He's also an experienced teacher, offering private lessons and contributing to the faculty of vibesworkshop.com, the world's largest online vibraphone community.
