Andrew Rathbun has been shaping jazz for nearly two decades with his unique blend of modern and classical influences. The Toronto native’s playing combines lyrical depth and compositional sophistication. His performances include both modern jazz pieces and adaptations of classical composers like Ravel and Mompou. Rathbun has composed for big bands internationally and holds a professorship in jazz saxophone at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. At Cliff Bell’s, he played two shows at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. and seating starting at 6:15 and 9 p.m., respectively.
