Mike Monford and Detroit Effervescense

Starting his musical journey at age four with his father’s jazz and R&B records, Mike Monford’s path evolved through hip-hop and DJing before settling on the saxophone. Trained by Detroit jazz legends and later mentored by Jackie McLean at the Hartt School in Connecticut, Mike spent two decades in New York performing and recording with top jazz musicians. His debut album “Perseverance” features Grammy-winning pianist Marc Cary among others. His show at Cliff Bell’s highlighted both Detroit’s deep jazz roots and his broad influences. Tickets cost $25.
