Senior Meijer Gardens Trip

The Livonia Senior Wellness Center arranged a fall excursion to Meijer Gardens located in Grand Rapids. Transportation was provided by motor coach, offering access to both indoor and outdoor exhibits, including a narrated tram tour that covered much of the grounds as well as the stunning outdoor installations by Dale Chihuly. Included with the trip were indoor exhibits, with an option to buy same-day tickets to the Chihuly: Radiant Forms exhibit for an extra fee. Participants were responsible for their own lunch, with options including the James and Shirley Balk Café, Fresh Express for take-away, and outdoor picnic areas. The outing involved extensive walking and the Gardens operated a cashless system with reverse ATMs available for gift card purchases. The trip took place rain or shine, with departure at 8 a.m. and return around 4:45 p.m. The fee was $65 for residents of Livonia and $70 for non-residents. Maps were provided at the front desk to assist with visit planning.
