Chicago pianist, vocalist, and composer Alexis Lombre focuses on the soul in music, blending jazz with gospel, hip-hop, and R&B. Her 2017 debut album “Southside Sounds” pays tribute to her Southside roots, influenced by artists like Eddie Harris and Gene Ammons. The show had two sets, one at 7:30 p.m. and another at 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. for dinner and seating starting early. Alexis has toured internationally and played with many renowned musicians, making this Detroit gig a taste of soulful jazz crafted beyond conventional boundaries.
