Samara Joy with Pasquale Grasso Trio at Cliff Bell’s

Samara Joy’s voice is as smooth as velvet, and her star is rising fast in jazz. After winning the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, she recorded her debut album with the Pasquale Grasso Trio, who backed her on this night at Cliff Bell’s. Growing up in New York with a musically rich family background, Samara blends gospel, R&B, and jazz influences into a unique sound. The show took place twice that evening, at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., at one of Detroit’s best jazz venues. Tickets were $25 each.
