Maddy Ringo

Starting her music career busking on the streets of Toronto, Maddy Ringo has emerged as a fresh voice in the tradition of American folk music. She is the daughter of a Canadian and an American peacenik and learned the Rise Up Singing catalogue at age seven, immersing herself in the works of Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, and Bob Dylan. Now based in Ann Arbor following her graduation from the University of Michigan, she has become a leading figure in the Southeast Michigan folk scene through her multi-instrumental songwriting and rich mezzo vocals. Her latest release, "Going Up That Mountain," addresses the weight of coming of age in an ever-accelerating world.
