Becoming Quintet: Detroit CD Release

The Becoming Quintet features Eric Wortzman (trumpet), Markus Howell (saxophone), Luther Allison (piano), Liany Mateo (bass), and Zach Adleman (drums). They performed a set of original pieces and arrangements, each written by the members themselves. Their combined experience includes numerous awards and international gigs. Zach Adleman won the J.C Heard National Drum Competition and recorded on Ted Nash’s Grammy-winning album, The Presidential Suite. Other members have been part of programs like The Gathering Orchestra and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra. They’ve played at venues like Carnegie Hall and shared stages with jazz greats such as Wynton Marsalis and Jimmy Cobb. Their show at Cliff Bell’s delivered an interactive and lively jazz experience.
