New Year’s Eve with Planet D Nonet at Cliff Bell’s

On December 31, 2018, Cliff Bell’s hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration beginning with the Jeff Cuny Trio from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., followed by Planet D Nonet from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The $100 ticket included a five-course dinner, live entertainment, a midnight toast, party favors, and late-night snacks. The Planet D Nonet, celebrated for their stirring renditions of Duke Ellington classics and early R&B, offered a rich jazz experience. For those joining later, a $25 “Ring in the New Year” package gave access to the band, toast, and party favors starting at 10:30 p.m., standing room only. Known nationally and decorated with multiple awards, the band’s performances marked a stylish way to bring in the new year in Detroit.
