Evan Mercer Trio

Evan Mercer started piano at age five and furthered his craft in Wayne State University’s Jazz Studies Program, studying under Matt Michaels, Cliff Monear, and Rob Pipho. At this gig, he blended fresh takes on jazz standards with his own new compositions. He’s currently touring with soul singer Bettye LaVette, bringing Detroit’s sound worldwide. His trio featured Sam Harris on bass and Jake Matthews on drums, offering a tight, dynamic rhythm section. The show was at the historic Cliff Bell’s, with no cover charge.
