The Vincent A. Chandler Collective

Vincent A. Chandler, a jazz studies lecturer at Wayne State University, is a native Detroiter rooted deeply in the city’s rich jazz history. He’s studied and played with local legends like Donald Walden and Marcus Belgrave and has performed internationally with giants such as Herbie Hancock and Wynton Marsalis. At this show, he brought original compositions to life with a collective of some of Detroit’s best, including Marion Hayden on bass and Rafael Statin on alto sax. Vocalist Kimwana Doner-Chandler also joined the group, adding a vocal touch to the set. It was a night of unique jazz sounds from one of Detroit’s key artists. Tickets were $10 at the door.
